Today we congratulate Tanosha and her daughter Tiffany (with baby on the way) for ending their homeless situation today by getting into their own apartment. Tanosha and Tiffany recently lost their last residence when their landlord would not renew their lease. When they had money they would stay in a hotel and as a last resort they would stay in their car. Tanosha has a job but couldn’t afford both first month’s rent and security deposit. We built a budget with her and after she found a place she could afford, we were happy to pay her security deposit so they could all move in. Their story:
“My name is Tanosha myself and my daughter have been Homeless since last month. Our Landlord would not renew our lease which resulted in both of us having to move. I choose to just move out it’s hard enough to find a place without an eviction on your name so rather than fight it out in court I left on the day the landlord requested I leave. I do have a job I have been on three years and able to pay my rent once I’m moved it I just can’t afford to come up the first months rent and deposit. I already paid the first months rent and provided my landlord with your phone number feel free to contact me if you have any further questions, Tanosha”
Tanosha and Tiffany, from all of us at OTS, congratulations on your new home and we wish you the very best when your baby arrives!
This family brings our placements this year to 155 and our grand total since we started OTSHB in 2014 up to 465. Read about our Campaign to House 1000 Homeless by 2020
