Today we congratulate Tammy and her 2 kids for getting off the street (they were living in their truck) and into a rental of their own. We built a budget with Tammy and when she found a rental within her means, we helped with the deposit so she and her kids could move in. We will soon be providing this single mom all the furniture and household goods they need to turn their empty rental into a home of their own. Read Tammy’s story in her own words below:
Hi my name is Tammy. I became homeless because the condo i lived in for 9 years was sold and new owners were going to live in it themselves. I have been looking for a apartment since October 2016 but have been unsuccessful finding a place that would accept section 8. So when January 9 2017 (move out date) came along i had no place to go. I dont have any family and all my friends moved out of orange county. So i have nobody who could help me. So my children and i have been sleeping in my truck since 1-9-17. Then i finally found a place earlier this month but the owner wanted huge deposit because my credit isn’t perfect. I had no choice but to take this apartment because my housing voucher expired this month. Now the obstacle i have to overcome is finding help to pay the down deposit. I dont have a job at the moment so any help i receive will be most welcomed. Thank you kindly for considering to help me and my children.
God Bless
Tammy, from all of us at OTS we wish you the best and congratulate you for getting into a home of your own.
