“Tori”, her 3 kids and her mother, 4/3/17

Tori - Housing For The Homeless - Off The Streets Huntington BeachToday we congratulate “Tori” (she asked that we protect her privacy), her 3 kids, and her mother for getting out of their homeless situation and into a home of their own. They have been without a home of their own for over a year. Read her story below:

My husband and I met in the early 1990’s and had our own business in Orange County. We had 3 kids together and lived an upper middle class lifestyle. We divorced in early 2008 and not unlike many other families, we lost everything. The kids didn’t just lose their dad and their family home where they were born, but EVERYTHING including their health and childhood. It is 2017 and we have been living in a motel due to the credit issues that plague a divorce. We never received appropriate child support either and lost our home of over 20 years. My kids wonder if we will be able to scrape up enough for the nights rate to stay at the motel. Incidentally, motels are quite expensive, but if you don’t have family to turn to and your friends turn away in silence, you really have no other choice. My mother is also with us due to her ongoing health issues. We needed funds for the security deposit to finally move into a rental and found this great organization to help us. Thank you! “Tori”

Tori, from all of us at OTS, we wish you and your family the very best in your new home.

This family brings our placements this year to 49 and our grand total to 359 since our startup in June of 2014.
