Lisa and her 4 kids, 10/27/18

Please join us in congratulating Lisa and her 4 kids today for ending their homeless situation by getting into their own rental. They have been living in hotels and shelters for the last 8 months. We were happy to help this single mom and her kids by paying their security deposit so they could move in. Read Lisa’s story below.

Deal OTS,

I previously rented a 4 bed 2 bath home but let my husband move in after being separated. Domestic violence began almost immediately. I took my kids out and we have been homeless ever since February moving from hotels to homeless shelter and back into hotels for the last 10 weeks.

The crisis that started was domestic violence. My husband was doing meth and decided he was going to our lighter fluid on me in the middle of the night after being awake for four days straight while on a meth induced rage. I packed my kids and I up and left….got a restraining order but was unable to regain my home.

This started February 28th. We stayed in San Jacinto Inn until April around the end of the month. We then entered a homeless shelter called Valley Restart in Hemet California. We stayed there the full 90 days of the program and ended back up in a hotel. Since then we have lived in Motels in Hemet, Westminster, and most recently Garden Grove.

I left my husband with barely more than the cleaning these on our backs. I pay all my Cash Aid at the beginning of the month and then go around to local churches and other agencies that help with rentals. Having a home on section 8 will save us and me from the constant worry. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Sincerely, Lisa

This family brings our placements this year to 167 and our grand total since we started OTS in 2014 up to 677. Read more about our charity at OTSHB.COM.
