Leah and her 2 kids, 7/31/18

Today we congratulate Leah and her 2 kids for getting into their own place. After Leah called us we created a budget with her to determine how much rent she could afford and after she found a rental that fit this budget we were happy to help her with the security deposit. Read how this family’s medical crisis caused them to be without a home and the need for assistance to get them back on their feet.

Dear OTS,
I was living across the street from the petroleum company that was leaking petroleum into the city water I was also living underneath an oil well that started to leak we got extremely sick. My son and I were constantly being sent in an ambulance to the hospital we even stayed for several weeks in hospital I was completely sick and unconscious. I also was in school full-time at the University of Long Beach. This created not only a financial hardship a physical hardship but a burden of now having to move from our home and find another place to live. The school I go to called it a catastrophic event. I had never been put in such a situation in my life. I’ve learned a lot and I hope to move forward from this get my degree and get my job and move on with life. I needed to find a home that was safe. this event has completely changed our lives we had to move according to doctors orders we were all very very sick. it takes time though to start again get healthy & financially stable to collect a deposit to find a place to rent. we have been waiting and looking for little over a year now to find a place to rent. we finally found a place now we need help with Security deposit thank you so much for taking the time to help us in anyway.
Leah
