Lavonne and her 2 kids, 6/13/18

Join us in congratulating Lavonne for ending her and her kids’ homeless situation. When Lavonne called we built a budget with her, and after she found a rental she could afford we paid the security deposit so they could all move in.

Dear OTS, My story of how I became homeless is that I filled out my taxes back In February internal revenue decided to audit my taxes. I was in the process of using my refund to move into my on place and that got put on hold due to the audit this really put me in a hardship situation I was depending on my refund to move into my on place and this happens I literally became homeless due to this situation I was living from here to their from ones friends house to another I was sleeping in her backyard in my car I. Front of her house with my car I was also sleeping at my job parking lot to make sure I got to work I was sleeping in Walmart parking lots in my car sometimes I couldn’t take a shower I would wash up at McDonald’s this became so frustrating people treat you different when your going through something are you don’t have you own place I went to another friends mack house and asked him if I could take a shower and sleep on the couch and I he said yes I I explained to him what happened so he said I could sleep on the couch so last month he told me I had to find a place because he was on housing and he could no longer assist me with my living arrangements so I begin looking for a place because he was afraid of losing his housing by having me their. I was referred to your agency through 211 and I’m grateful for this agency I was praying that your agency would be able to assist me god answered my prayers I’m so thankful and grateful that your agency could assist me I have lost so much during the hardship I lost my storage so I have to start all over I’m in need of basic things like towel dishes pots and pans and a queen size mattress and a washer and dryer I had all these things but I lost my storage this would be a great help to me if I could get some of those thing I just want to say to you and your agency that you have in place I pray that god continues to bless your agency and the individuals staff member that help individuals like mea and other families get off the street and into our on place I feel truly blessed and again thank you from the bottom of my heart. – Lavonne
