Kayla and her daughter, 4/1/16

Kayla and her daughterA year of persistence pays off! Today we congratulate Kayla and her daughter for getting out of their homeless situation. She called us a year ago and struggled to find a place that fit the budget we built with her, but she persisted and today with our help with the security deposit, they were able to move into their own home today. Here’s their story in Kayla’s own words:

Hi, my name is Kayla and I’m a newly single mother of a beautiful 7 year old daughter. We moved here from Colorado as a family of three to take care of my grandmother, unfortunately, she passed as we came through Utah. After we crossed into California we got hit on the highway and all ended up needing physical therapy and chiropractic care. We have been in and out of hotels and camping ever since. The pressure cracked us as a couple and time took its course on our 11 year relationship. I currently work as a newborn photographer at the fountain valley hospital, work as a sub for ocean view school district on my days off, do Mary Kay on the side and now clean Ace Jui Jit Su gym on Sundays as well as do random weddings with a coordinator I know. I have started back in school part time this semester and only have 3 classes left to take for my associates degree and plan to transfer to Long Beach University. My daughter is excelling in 1st grade. She is reading at a second grade level, gets A’s on all her spelling tests and got a 100 on her state math test. She is also getting free training from the gym and is loving it! We have no problem working hard for what we want we simply experienced many hardships. I appreciate any help that can be offered and am confident that with it we will be successful! Thank you in advance for considering us!

Kayla – from all of us at OTS, CONGRATULATIONS and thank you for working so hard to improve your situation!!!
