Please join us today in congratulating Jessica, Jordan, and her baby daughter for getting into their own rental. After they contacted for help to get into permanent housing, we built a budget with them, then after they found a rental that fit this budget we were happy to pay the security deposit so they could move in. Read Jessica’s story below:
Dear OTS,
1 year ago , I lost myself while trying to keep a toxic relationship together with my baby’s father after losing a baby because of abuse, it possibly hurting my daughter . I said enough is enough. That’s when I hit up anyone from friends to what family I have left to help me leave. That’s when I found myself couch surfing for a few months with my daughter . I kept getting kicked out of room to rent or friends they didn’t want to deal with having a baby in their home. Than finally , I started paying for motels on a daily I was getting frustrated wasting money on a temporary situation. When I wanted a foundation to build a home for my family and I. That’s when I thought to myself , why is it that my life has flipped upside down when I left for the right reasons. Questions upon questions popped up in my head. That’s when I was referred to OTSHB. I even moved out of the San Fernando Valley to find more reasonable housing cheaper or anything I was desperate. Mentally taking a toll on my well being. If it wasn’t for Jordan stepping up to helpr and OTSHB , I don’t know where I’d be on a nightly basis. Angels are watching over us. It’s hard to establish your life when you don’t know what location or motel you will be at. As a young mother trying to do the best in her ability and man sent from God to help me watch my daughter while I went to work. I’m excited for my new chapter in life a place to call home, and the pleasure of things in my housing being my own. I don’t like having to worry about my daughter damaging things and that being the reason for unstable housing. We would need help with furniture and a security deposit.
