Today we congratulate Jessica and her 2 boys for ending their homeless situation by getting into their own home. They have been without their own place since November 2016 when they got evicted by their landlord and they had nowhere to go. They have been staying in motels and couch hopping when they could. We built a budget with Jessica and she was able to find a rental that fit this budget so we were happy to pay her security deposit so they could move in. We will soon be providing this family with much needed furniture and household goods. Read more of Jessica’s story and a very nice note of thanks from her new landlord here:
Dear OTS:
The reason I became homeless was because I was being a nice neighbor and allowed them to put their stuff on my porch and my landlord did not approve of it so they asked me to leave. The reason I need your help is because I have two boys that I’m trying to make sure has a roof over their heads so their not on the street or gets taken away from me. I started staying with a friend then she lost her place so I went and stayed in a motel then my worker helped me pay for two weeks and I been for room on my own and now I have no more money for a room and right now we are going from place to place. I used all my income to pay for my motel rent so my kids wouldn’t be on the streets. Jessica
And we also received this very nice note from her new Landlord, Jose:
Dear OTS, i commend the work and the effort your organization makes to help people get on their feet and off the streets. i, like you, give people chances so they can have a roof over their heads. i do have units available from time to time, so if any of your clients are ever in need of one in the this area, let me know. i will make the process simpler with your auspice. thank you again,Jose
