Isaac and his brother, 10/19/15

We are happy to report that we were able to help Isaac and his brother get into a place of their own today. Here’s their story in Isaac’s own words:

“To Off the Streets:
I am sending this letter as informed to do so by one of your representative that I spoke with over the phone today. My name is Isaac and my brother and I have for the past 10 weeks been displaced staying with friends. Our mother put us out because she is going through some health problems that are affecting her mind. She said it was too crowded at her place and that she could not take it anymore. She asked us to leave so we respected her request. I am working full time making $15.00 dollars an hour. My brother is 26 years old and is mentally disabled and his case is pending with the Social Security Office so in the meantime he collects general relief which is only $263.00 a month. We have been notified that we have been accepted to move in an income restricted complex in the city Lake Forest where we have been residents of this city for several years. The only thing is we have to be able to give them the security and 1st month rent. It will be a blessing if Off the Streets could help us with the some of the security amount so we do not have to live on the streets or we do not have to sleep on the couch and floor at friend’s places. I have a job and I am a responsible person. I hope that you will consider helping my brother and I. Our time is short so please let us know.
Sincerely, Isaac

Isaac we congratulate you and your brother for getting into your own place and we were happy to help you with your security deposit to get over this last hurdle. Sincerely, OTS-HB
