A veteran who is no longer homeless —
Meet Herbert who is the 57th person we’ve helped escape homelessness. Herbert, a veteran, was in the process of relocating back home to CA from the Southeast, when he ended up homeless in the Armory in Fullerton. Herbert ended up homeless because he was unable to afford the security deposit and first month’s rent for a rental because of his limited retirement income. The Armory could not accommodate him very long because of his medical needs. After he was discharged from the Armory, an agency gave him a hotel voucher so he could get off the streets for a few nights, but that was just a temporary fix. A family member familiar with our charity helped him contact Off The Streets – Huntington Beach and our financial counselor determined he earned enough monthly income to afford a rented room. Herbert was able to find a rented room that fit his budget, and with our payment of the security deposit he is no longer homeless. We wish Herbert the very best in his new place!
