Tanisha and her 2 kids, 6/8/18

Please join us in congratulating Tanisha and her 2 kids for getting into their own rental today. After facing an unfortunate eviction and bouncing between motels, she was able to get her own place again after we paid her security deposit that allowed her to move in. Read Tanisha’s story below:

Dear OTS,
Im a single mother who has always kept and maintained a roof for my kids. However ive stayed in my unit for 5 years always paid my rent in a timely manner to a lady that had some relation to the owner. She was fired and the owner decided to pick uo the rent himself. The rent is always due from the 1st to the 3rd i called my owner to come get the rent repeatedly but no response. He came un announced 3 weeks later for the rent of which my portion i pay is 391.00. I explained to him i had 300.00 and i will give him the 91.00 the following week since i get paid weekly he refused and said he had to serve me a 3day notice which i didnt understand being that i always paid on time and he put the notice on my door the following day. When i got paid the following week i called and texed him to let him no i had the full payment but no response yet again. When i got home the following day another notice was on my door. I proceeded to call legal aid at this point because now i feel like he is toying with me and my kids roof. So legal aid did assist me with filing in court and i actually won the case but was told my last day in the unit was 04/30/2018 i went to section 8 and got a voucher to move ive been looking high and low paying for applications and credit reports left and right. I found a unit that did approve me. The owner signed my section 8 papers i returned them to section8 so they can set up an inspection time with owner to make sure the unit is livable it did pass inspection and now im waiting for section 8 to complete the process so i can sign the lease and move in. Im currently homeless bouncing around from place to place and different motels its very expensive and i dint have the money to keep spending on rooms. Im just ready to be back under my own roof with my kids being comfortable. I really need you guys help PLEASE it would be greatly appreciated Thank you – Tanisha
