‘Sara’ and her 3 kids, 5/12/17

Sara - Housing For The Homeless - Off The Streets Huntington BeachToday we congratulate ‘Sara’ (identity protected) and her 3 kids for ending their homeless situation by getting into their own apartment. Sara fled domestic abuse and ended up homeless for the last 6 weeks with her kids. Read her story below:

Dear OTS,

I’ll try to make a very hard, stressful, and long story short. I’m 33 years old and I am surviving at this time with my 3 children, homeless.  I left my marriage because of domestic violence and moved In with family. I was living with my cousin, her fiance and two kids. While I was living there I applied for a low income apartment. After struggling for so long we had a move in date but my cousin’s husband lost his job and was upset about me moving quickly and unexpectedly because they depending on my rent. When the apartment was offered to me, and was processing quickly she got upset, and didn’t accept my month’s rent asking me and the kids to leave that day. Because of that I’ve depleted all my funds for deposit. I’ve been sleeping in my car and occasionally in hotels. My finances and savings have dwindled trying to survive the last several  weeks now I don’t have money to move into an apartment. I’m so close to my kids trying to keep us together and happy has been a struggle. We are desperate for stability and a home we can call our own!

Thank you,
‘Sara’
