Jessica and her Mother Marian, 10/21/17

Today we congratulate Jessica and her Mom, Marian, for ending their homeless situation that they have been facing for over the last year. We built a budget with them and after they found a rental they they could afford, we were happy to pay the security deposit so they could move in because they didn’t have any savings. We will soon be providing them with much needed furniture and household goods.

Marion is a home care nurse. She had one patient she worked 5 hours per day 7 days per week. Her daughter Jessica is disabled she started receiving SSI when she was 18, she is now 28. In April 2015 Marion’s only patient passed away and she lost that income but continues to receive a small early retirement income. Since then she and Jessica have been staying anywhere they could with family, friends, motel rooms, etc. They also stayed at the Path of Life shelter for 5 months. Their goal is to get a place and save enough money to buy a car so Marion can work again. They found an affordable apartment and have been approved for it. They just need the despot funds since they have no savings.

This daughter and mother bring our placements this year to 170 and our grand total up to 480 since we started OTS in 2014.
