Today we congratulate Christina and her 2 kids for ending their homeless situation by getting into a rental of their own. This single Mother has been surviving in a shelter and now has the opportunity for a new start in life. We will soon be providing this family with much needed household goods and furniture to give them a fresh start. Read Christina’s story below:
Dear OTS, I was in a long term relationship with my children’s father and we were in a 4 bedroom house in Riverside county. When we split up after 14 yrs I was no longer in a 2 people income household and even though I have carried a full time job I still can’t afford the full rent that is out there for a family of three. I had some savings during the time I was in a shelter (which i also had program fees) but when I had surgery and was only getting disability, my car also broke down and ended having to go through that as well, which put me back and in the situation I am in now. Program time is up and savings is all gone. 2 1/2 yrs at House of Hope. I really hope you will consider in my case. I will attach a copy from the director from the shelter I was in and you can see that I was there for over 2 yrs without any problems and always paid my fees on time. You can call and speak to her if you like. I have no evictions on my record and have never lived in a place for under 3 yrs. I have never been in drug rehab or alcohol rehab. I am simply a mother of two young children with a full time job and struggling to make ends meet. I have taken parenting classes and always try to better myself to help be a better parent. I really hope you could help my children and myself with any deposit and furniture for our new place. Thank you! Christina
