Dominique and her 2 kids, 10/10/18

Please join us in congratulating Dominique and her 2 kids for ending their homeless situation. When she called us for help after losing her housing a few months ago, we built a budget with Dominique and after she found a rental that fit this budget we were happy to pay her security deposit so they could move in. Read her story below.

Dear OTS,
I had a place until about three months ago the landlord wanted to move his sick mother back into the home from the nursing home. He wanted her to pass away at her house, which was the house I was renting so I had to move. He said if I didn’t move he would file an eviction on me so me and my kids moved and this is what caused the crisis. I have been staying with friends from here to there sleeping on the floor with my kids an in my truck with them and going to my friends house bathing. I’m trying to get a stable place for me and my children. This situation is so stressful I can’t cook them hot meals I have to sleep in my car sometimes. I also have to sleep in my friends garage on couch with my children. We are not able to take showers like we should and we have to wait until she comes home to get inside the house and fix dinner. Sometime she don’t get home until twelve at night so we sit in the car and wait. So this throws the kids sleeping pattern off and they need their proper rest. So this is the reason I need or help with my security deposit. I’m trying to get a stable home for me and my children. I thank god for your agency being able to help me along with the other families you help. This is a god sent agencies and I feel very blessed that you are able to assist me with my deposit and furniture and household needs. Thank you so much this has made me so happy and it takes a lot of stress off of me knowing I will be in my place soon thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Dominique
